Summary

Oil painting on canvas laid down on panel, Trompe l'oeil (Urn) by Martin Battersby (1914 - Lewes 1982), 1950-60. A painting of an urn on a plinth set within a niche. The plinth decorated with a classical medallion and palmettes; the right-hand palmette has slipped. Framed and glazed.

Provenance

Commissioned by Denis Martineau (1907-1975), the last owner of Mompesson House, 1950-60 and installed in the Entrance Hall of Mompesson House
