Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Maria Carnac, Mrs William Bushby (1773-1850), by Thomas Hazlehurst (Liverpool c.1740 -c.1821). c.1793. Oval. Half-length portrait of a young woman, turned to the left, gazing at the spectator, in a white dress, lilac bodice and black waist-band. Large round brown eyes, heavy eyebrows, neatly arched eyelids and nearly painted lips, Sky and trees in the background. Inscribed on label: Maria Bushby (nee Camac) wife of William Bushby of Kirkmichael an 14 Great Cumberland Place London 1773-1854. (Wife of 723994)
