Summary
Chinese famille verte wall fountain. Painted with scenes of the Romance of the Western Chamber (11/12th century saga) with 3 ladies and child on terrace, watched by a young man with a monster mask, a spigot and stepped cover. C. 1710. Cover missing. A 1710 inventory at Drayton House, Northamptonshire, lists ‘Delf fountains, one of the topps being lost and one of the corks’.
