Summary
Silver Inkstand. Part of boat-shaped inkstand with three glass ink bottles. William Plummer, London, 1786, engraved ‘To Thomas Chute of the Vine 12 Jany 1786’ and ‘From Thomas Dacre by Will’ and with the arms of Chute and of Thomas Barrett-Lennard, 17th Baron Dacre (1717-1786).
Provenance
Purchased in 1786 by Thomas Lobb Chute (1721-90) with money bequeathed from his cousin Thomas Barrett-Leonard, 17th Baron Dacre (1717-1786). By descent to Sir Charles Chute and bequeathed in 1956 to Lady Laura Joan Chute. Purchased by the National Trust at Bonhams, London, 30 June, 2010.
