Summary

Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Thomas Lobb Chute (1621-1790), British (English) School. c.1770. Oval. Half-length portrait of a man, turned to the left, gazing to the left, holding a gold-topped walking-cane in his right hand, wearing a black coat and white shirt-frill. Light brown eyes, grey wig, florid complexion, modelled with blue and red stipple. Cloudy sky background. (One of nine family miniatures in a mahogany case NT/VYN/F/31.)
