Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour on ivory, Thomas Lobb Chute (1621-1790) in the manner of Samuel Collins (Bristol 1735 – Dublin 1768). c.1765. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a man, turnd slightly to the right, gazing at the spectator, wearing a blue coat with ivory coloured waistcoat, both with gold frogging. Grey eyes, grey bob wig, pale (faded) complexion modelled with blue brush-strokes. Fawn-coloured scumbled background. Lit from the left, with heady nose shadow. (One of nine family miniatures in mahogany case NT/VYN/F/31)
