Summary
One of two medals from North African campaigns of the late 19th century. ORM/S/31a circular with a head of Queen Victoria inscribed VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX and a spinx and EGYPT on verse. A bar on the blue and white striped ribbon GEMAIZAH 1888. ORM/S/31b a star with a sphinx centrally and EGYPT, verso a gothic monogram crowned, suspended on a blue ribbon. In a box inscribed A W Pennyman medals.
Provenance
Pennyman collection devised in October 1961 to The National Trust under the terms of Col. J.B.W. Pennyman's will.
