Summary
A bread oven, sandstone brick and tile lined, built into fireplace in kitchen area.
Full description
The small oven provided minimal provision for baking, it was probably a pastry oven. It appears at first sight an afterthought, projecting into the room behind, but its corbelled door threshold is contemporary with the tiled fireback of the hearth, and its door has a relieving arch above, integrated with the masonary of the wall. A 1919 photograph shows the oven open to the adjoining room behind. The back was repaired and the grille fitted in 1967. (CMP 2016)
