Summary

A vinyl record, the 1995 twelve inch single version of the song I Feel Love by Donna Summer. The record contains four songs, with two on each side. There is a circular orange label in the centre of each side of the record with the artists name printed at the top of each label in red letters and the song titles on each side printed at the bottom in white letters. Donna Summer was an American singer and songwriter who became popular during the disco era of the mid to late 1970’s. I Feel Love is amongst her most popular and recognisable songs. It was co-written and produced by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte and was originally recorded by Summer in 1976 and released in July 1977, becoming a huge international hit and a massive influence on subsequent genres of electronic dance music. The song was re-released in 1995 with new vocals recorded by Summer and this twelve inch record contains remixed versions by Rollo and Sister Bliss of the band Faithless and by Masters At Work on Side One, with Side Two containing the Summer '77 RE-EQ '95 version of the song plus a remix by Junior Vasquez of the song Melody Of Love.

Provenance

Vinyl record originally recorded by Donna Summer in 1976. Re-recorded in 1995 and released by the Casablanca, Manifesto and Mercury record labels on 28th August 1995. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 8th September 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
