Summary
A cardboard sleeve for a vinyl record, the album Nevermind by Nirvana. The front cover of the sleeve features a photograph taken by Kirk Weddle of a naked baby boy floating in a swimming pool with a dollar bill on a fishhook in front of the child. The band name and the album title are printed in black in the front bottom left corner. The rear of the sleeve is pale blue and black with a list of the song titles on each side of the record at the top, below which is a blurred colour image of the three members of the band (left to right: Krist Novoselic, Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl). The records catalogue numbers (GEF 24425 and DGC 24425) are printed in the top right corner on the rear of the sleeve. The catalogue number GEF 24425, the band name and the album title are all printed on the spine of the sleeve.
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for the vinyl record Nevermind recorded by Nirvana and released on the DGC label on 24th September 1991 with a cover photograph by Kirk Weddle. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 30th March 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
