Summary
A vinyl record, the album Nevermind by Nirvana. The album contains twelve songs with six on each side of the record. There is a circular, brown paper label in the centre of each side. Both these labels have a white DGC (David Geffen Company) logo at the top with a list of the song titles at the bottom. Below the song titles are some songwriting and publishing credits. The albums catalogue numbers (GEF 24 425 and DGC 24 425) are printed to the right of centre on each label. Nirvana were an American rock band who formed in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Their most famous line up comprised of Kurt Cobain (guitar and vocals), Krist Novoselic (bass) and Dave Grohl (drums). They were at the forefront of the ‘grunge’ music scene that emerged in Seattle in the early 1990’s and were active until 1994 when they disbanded following Cobain’s suicide. Despite this short career they continue to influence modern rock music culture. Nevermind was Nirvana’s second studio album and their first to feature Grohl on drums. It was recorded at the Sound City studio in Los Angeles and at Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin. Produced by Butch Vig and the band, the album was released on the DGC label and propelled the band to worldwide stardom.
