Summary
A vinyl record, the album Rock 'n' Roll by Elvis Presley. The album contains twelve songs with six on each side. There is a circular red paper label in the centre of each side, with both labels having the famous His Master's Voice logo of the dog looking into the gramophone player trumpet at the top. At the bottom of each label there is a list of the song titles for that side with the song writing credits given in brackets after each title. The records catalogue number (CLP 1093) is printed to the right of centre on both labels. Elvis Aaron Presley was an American singer, musician and actor who was born in Tupelo Mississippi in 1935 before his family relocated to Memphis Tennessee where he began his musical career at Sun Records in 1954. He became known as ‘The King Of Rock and Roll’ and is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th Century, initially causing controversy with his highly energized and sexually provocative performances. Presley died in 1977 but his records continue to sell in large numbers and he is one of the best selling musical artists of all time. Rock ‘n Roll was the debut studio album by Presley. It was recorded at RCA Studio B in Nashville, RCA Victor in New York and Sun Records in Memphis. The record was produced by Sam Phillips and Stephen H. Sholes and was released in the UK by HMV. The record was released in the United States with a different title (Elvis Presley) on the RCA Victor label and with five different songs to the UK version.
