Summary
A cardboard sleeve for a vinyl record, the album Gospel Train by Sister Rosetta Tharpe. The front cover of the sleeve features a colour photograph of Sister Rosetta Tharpe playing an electric guitar, with the album title and artists name in white lettering on the right hand side and a Mercury Records logo in the top left corner. The rear of the sleeve has a list of the song titles on the record at the top, with some text about Sister Rosetta Tharpe printed below. There are Mercury records logos at the bottom left and right corners and the records catalogue number (MPL 6529) is printed at various locations around the rear of the sleeve. The catalogue number, album title and artists name are also all printed on the spine of the sleeve.
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for a vinyl record, the album Gospel Train recorded by Sister Rosetta Tharpe and released by Mercury Records in December 1956. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 8th September 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
