Summary
A paper sleeve for a vinyl record, the twelve inch single version of Rapper's Delight by The Sugarhill Gang. The sleeve is blue and includes a partial image of a face wearing sunglasses at the bottom right corner on each side, the left lens of the glasses featuring a logo for the Pye Records Group. There is a circular hole in the centre of the sleeve which on both sides has '12" 45 R.P.M SINGLE' printed around the top and 'GIVE YOU A WEEK OF SATURDAY NIGHTS' printed around the bottom, all in yellow font. There are also white Pye Records Group logos on either side of the hole on both sides of the sleeve.
Provenance
Paper record sleeve for a vinyl record, the twelve inch single version of Rapper’s Delight recorded by The Sugarhill Gang and released on the Sugarhill Records label on 16th September 1979. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 6th August 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
