Summary
Cardboard sleeve for a vinyl record, the album ‘Dance To The Duke’ by Duke Ellington and His Orchestra. The front cover of the sleeve has a colour illustration of couples dancing, with the record title in large black letters at the top and a Capitol Records logo in the top right corner. The rear of the sleeve has a black and white head and shoulder portrait of Duke Ellington below which is a list of the musicians playing on the record and the instruments they play, plus details of when and where the recordings of each song were undertaken. On the right hand side on the rear of the sleeve there is printed text giving further information about the recordings on the record. The album title and its catalogue number, T-637, are printed on the spine of the record.
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for the vinyl record Dance To The Duke recorded by Duke Ellington and released by Capitol Records in 1954. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 7th August 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
