Summary
A vinyl record, the twelve inch single version of ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves’ by The Eurythmics and Aretha Franklin. Side One of the record contains the title track only while Side Two has a remixed version of the same track and the song ‘I Love You Like A Ball and Chain’. There is a black circular paper label in the centre on each side of the record. These labels have the song titles for each side printed on them and the records catalogue number ‘PT40340’ is printed at the top with the artists names at the bottom and an RCA logo on the left hand side. The Eurythmics were a British pop music duo comprised of the vocalist Annie Lennox and the musician Dave Stewart. They formed in 1980 and were active until 1990 and then again between 1999 and 2005. Aretha Louise Franklin (1942 – 2018) was an American singer, songwriter and pianist. Known as ‘The Queen Of Soul’ she is frequently listed as being amongst the greatest singers of all time. ‘Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves’ was recorded at the United Sound System studio in Detroit, Michigan, USA. It had originally been planned for Tina Turner to perform the song with The Eurythmics but when she was not available for the recording sessions, Franklin was used instead. The record was produced by Dave Stewart and released on the RCA record label.
