Summary
A vinyl record, the album ‘Songs To Grow On For Mother and Child’ by Woody Guthrie. The record contains thirteen songs with six songs on Side One and seven on Side Two. The record has a circular blue paper label in the centre of both sides. These labels have a Folkways Records logo across the top with the record title just below. At the bottom of each label is a list of songs on each side of the record and its catalogue number ‘FC 7015’ is printed to the right of centre. Woodrow (Woody) Wilson Guthrie (1912 – 1967) was an American singer and songwriter who became one of the most significant figures in American folk music. He wrote political songs on themes including socialism and anti fascism and has been acknowledged as a major influence by many other musicians including Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. ‘Songs To Grow On For Mother and Child’ is a collection of children's songs recorded by Guthrie and includes songs written about and for his own children. It was released on the Folkways Records label.
