Summary
A cardboard sleeve a vinyl record, the album ‘That'll Be The Day by Buddy Holly’. The front cover of the sleeve has a colour image of Buddy Holly standing in front of a clouds and sky background. To the right of this image the album title is printed in yellow capital letters with the artists name printed below in white capitals. At the top on the front cover is a list of some of the song titles from the album and in the top right corner there is a logo for Ace of Hearts Records. In the top left corner is the records catalogue number, AH 3. The rear of the sleeve features a black and white head and shoulder portrait of Buddy Holly and a printed list of all the song titles on each side of the record with song writing credits given in brackets after each title. At the bottom of the rear of the cover there is a list of other records available in the Ace of Hearts catalogue. The artists name, album title and catalogue number are all printed on the spine of the sleeve.
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for the vinyl record ‘That’ll Be The Day’ recorded by Buddy Holly and released in the UK by Ace Of Hearts Records in October 1961. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 1st September 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
