Summary
A cardboard sleeve for a vinyl record, the album ‘Raw Power’ by The Stooges. The front cover of the sleeve has a colour image of a shirtless Iggy Pop, the singer in the band, behind a microphone stand which he is holding on to with both hands. In the top left front corner is a logo for CBS. The rear side of the sleeve has a further four images of Iggy Pop, together with a printed list of the song titles on each side of the record, details of the musicians playing on the record and various production and recording credits. There is another CBS logo at the rear top right corner with the records catalogue number (65586) printed underneath. The artists name, record title and catalogue number are all printed on the spine of the sleeve. The images featured on the sleeve were all taken by the music photographer Mick Rock at live shows performed by the band at The Scala in Kings Cross, London on the 14th and 15th July 1972.
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for the vinyl album Raw Power by The Stooges released in the UK on the CBS Records label on February 7th 1973 with sleeve photographs taken by Mick Rock on 14th and 15th July 1972. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 12 March 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
