Summary
A vinyl record, the album ‘Raw Power’ by The Stooges. The record contains eight songs, with four songs on each side. There is a circular orange paper label in the centre of each side of the record. These labels have CBS Records logos in the middle, the album title and artists name at the top, a list of songs and song writing credits for each side at the bottom and the records catalogue number, ‘S 35586’ to the right of centre. The Stooges, also known as Iggy and The Stooges, were an American rock band formed in Michigan in 1967. They became known for their confrontational live performances and are seen as a major influence on the punk rock scene that emerged in the UK in 1976. Raw Power was the third studio album released by the band whose members for the recordings comprised of Iggy Pop (James Osterberg), James Williamson, Ron Asheton and Scott Asheton. It was recorded at the CBS studio in London, produced by David Bowie and Iggy Pop and released on the CBS Records label in the UK and the Columbia Records label in America. Although initially a commercial failure the album is now frequently cited as amongst the most influential in rock music history.
