Summary
The original cardboard box packaging for the ‘Cabbage Patch Kid’ doll Viola Maryruth from the ‘Splash ‘n’ Tan Kids’ range manufactured by Hasbro. The box is orange and has a large cellophane window on the front through which the doll can be viewed. The dolls catalogue number (30500) is printed in beige coloured digits at the bottom right corner of the front of the box and on both sides. There is a large ‘Cabbage Patch Kids Splash ‘n’ Tan Kids’ logo at the bottom of the front. Both sides of the box feature colour images of the dolls available in the ‘Splash ‘n’ Tan’ series in various locations such as the beach and the bath and the rear of the box has a colour image of a young female child playing with a doll in the bath. At the bottom on the rear there is a text box that contains printed text detailing ‘The Legend of The Cabbage Patch Kids’. There are Hasbro trademark logos on the rear and both sides of the box and additional ‘Cabbage Patch Kids Splash 'n' Tan’ logos on the rear and both sides. At the time of cataloguing (November 2023) the box remains sealed and has never been opened.

Original box for doll and accessories manufactured by Hasbro in 1991. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay circa 2023 as part of the Collecting Cultures Exploring Childhoods project.
