Summary
A circular black plastic base for a stand, an accessory included with an Ella Fitzgerald character doll from the Barbie Inspiring Women series of dolls by Mattel. The base has a small circular hole in it through which the stand pole part can be inserted. The number ‘DXY64-2029-2-01’ is stamped on the underside together with a 2016 copyright stamp for Mattel. Ella Fitzgerald (1917 – 1996) was an American jazz singer often referred to as ‘The First Lady of Song’ or ‘The Queen of Jazz’.
Provenance
Accessory included with an Ella Fitzgerald character doll manufactured by Mattel Inc. in 2019. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood in September 2020 via ebay as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
