Summary
An Ella Fitzgerald character doll from the Barbie Inspiring Women series of dolls by Mattel. The brown plastic doll has dark hair tied up on top of the head and its head, arms, hands and legs are all moveable. She is dressed in a long sparkling purple textile dress with a white flower motif on the left shoulder and is wearing purple plastic shoes and small circular white plastic earrings. Ella Fitzgerald (1917 – 1996) was an American jazz singer often referred to as ‘The First Lady of Song’ or ‘The Queen of Jazz’.

Manufactured by Mattel Inc. in 2019. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood in September 2020 via ebay as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
