Summary
A circular black plastic base for a stand, an accessory included with a Rosa Parks character doll from the Barbie Inspiring Women series of dolls by Mattel. The base has a small circular hole in it through which the stand pole part can be inserted. There are two numbers stamped on the underside: ‘K7958-Q504-01’ and ‘W7817-2019’. Rosa Parks (1913 – 2005) was a black American civil rights activist. She is best known for refusing to leave her seat on a bus in Montgomery Alabama, when ordered to vacate it for a white passenger in December 1955.
Provenance
Accessory included with Rosa parks doll manufactured by Mattel Inc. in 2019. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood in September 2020 via ebay as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
