Summary
The original cardboard box packaging for a Rosa Parks character doll from the Barbie Inspiring Women series of dolls by Mattel. The box is red and the front has a see through cellophane window through which the contents can be seen. At the bottom left on the front is a black and white image of Rosa Parks with a ‘Barbie Signature’ logo immediately below. At the bottom right on the front of the box there is a trademark logo for the Inspiring Women Series with white letters on a red background. On the rear there is another black and white image of Rosa Parks with printed text below the image providing details of her lifespan and biographical information on her role as a civil rights activist in the 1950’s and 60’s. One end of the box is stamped with the number ‘213911’ and the inside has been designed to appear like the seats on a bus. Both sides of the box have the name ‘Rosa Parks’ printed in white letters on a circular gold background. Rosa Parks (1913 – 2005) was a black American civil rights activist. She is best known for refusing to leave her seat on a bus in Montgomery Alabama, when ordered to vacate it for a white passenger in December 1955.
