Summary
The original plastic container for a video cassette recording of the film ‘Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella’ made and released by Walt Disney Television in 1997. The box is wrapped in a printed paper sleeve and on the front of the sleeve the names of the main actors in the film including Jason Alexander, Brandy, Whoopi Goldberg and Whitney Houston are printed at the top immediately above the title, and colour images of the stars in character for the film. The films ‘U’ classification is printed at the bottom right on the front of the sleeve. The rear of the sleeve has four colour images taken from the film and a printed text summary of the plot of the film. The spine of the container has the films catalogue number (D610138) printed on it. The reverse side of the paper sleeve contains colour adverts for two additional films released on video; 'Flubber' starring Robin Williams and 'George Of The Jungle', plus the dates of when these films will be available on video.
Provenance
Plastic container for DVD released by Walt Disney Television in 1997. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood in August 2020 via ebay as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
