Summary
A cardboard sleeve for a vinyl record, the album ‘Pattaka’ by Alaap. The front cover of the sleeve has the band name printed in white in the top left corner, below which is a head and shoulder portrait photograph of four members of the band with another photograph of six band members dressed in white below. Underneath the photos ‘PATTAKA The Bhangra Explosion’ is printed in yellow letters. In the top right hand corner on the front of the sleeve there is some text in red (possibly Punjabi text) and a logo for Multitone records. The rear of the sleeve features a colour photograph of one of the band singing, with the title of the record in large yellow letters in the top left corner and the band name, also in yellow, printed in the bottom right corner. A list of song titles and song writers is printed in green text on the left hand side of the rear of the sleeve with production and recording credits printed underneath in yellow. Below this in green text is some background information on the band. In the bottom left corner in red are a Multitone logo and the records catalogue number (BHANGRA 4 LP).
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for the vinyl record Pattaka recorded by Alaap and released on the Multitone record label in 1988. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
