Summary
A cardboard gatefold sleeve for a vinyl record, the album ‘Rollin’ by The Bay City Rollers, released. The front cover of the sleeve has a colour photograph of the five members of the band (Alan Longmuir, Derek Longmuir, Les McKeown, Stuart Wood and Eric Faulkner) which is signed in pen by each individual member. ‘BAY CITY ROLLERS’ is printed above the photograph in red, white and blue letters. With ‘ROLLIN’ printed immediately underneath in small black letters on a red background. The rear of the sleeve features another colour photograph of the band with the band name and record title printed in the top left corner in the same style as on the front cover, below which is a list of the song titles on the record. The catalogue number for the record (BELLS 244) is printed in the top right corner and there is a Bell Records logo in the bottom right corner. Inside the gatefold sleeve there are black and white head and shoulder portrait photographs of the five band members, below which are printed lists of their personal details and likes and dislikes etc. Below this there are details about how to join The Bay City Rollers Fan Club. On the right hand side there is a colour photograph of the band, a list of the song titles on each side of the record and details of song writing, publishing and production credits. A Bell Records logo is printed at the bottom of this side.
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for the vinyl record 'Rollin' recorded by The Bay City Rollers and released on the Bell records label in October 1974. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 5th March 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
