Summary
A white plastic cassette tape by the band Bow Wow Wow containing the songs ‘C30: C60: C90: Go!’ on Side One and ‘Sun, Sea and Piracy’ on Side Two. ‘BOW WOW WOW’ is printed in blue letters at the bottom of each side of the tape and its catalogue number (TC-EMI-5088) is printed top at the left on both sides. Both songs on the tape were produced by Malcolm McClaren. Bow Wow Wow were an English 'new wave' group formed in 1980 by Malcolm McLaren and originally consisting of the members Dave Barbarossa, Matthew Ashman, Leigh Gorman and Annabella Lwin. ‘C30: C60: C90: Go!’ was the first single released by Bow Wow Wow and marked the first ever instance of a single being released on casette in addition to the traditional seven inch vinyl format.
Provenance
Recorded by Bow Wow Wow and released by EMI Records in July 1980. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 31st August 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
