Summary
The original cardboard box packaging for a Pokémon Red Version video game cartridge. The box is square shaped and its top has the 'POKÉMON' trademark printed at the top in large yellow letters above a colour image of one of the game's characters. To the side of this image 'GAME BOY' is printed in purple letters, above which is a red Nintendo trademark logo. 'Red Version' is printed in white letters at the bottom of the box top. On the base of the box are printed details of the game and its key features in English and Dutch with ‘DMG P APAU’ printed at the bottom left. There is a Nintendo trademark logo at the bottom right corner on the bottom of the box. On each of the four flaps inside the two ends of the box is printed ‘DMG-APAU-NHAU-2’ Pokémon is a series of video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo.
Provenance
Manufactured in Japan for Nintendo Co. Ltd in 1999. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay on 17th September 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
