Summary
A textile/plush cuddly toy of the Pokémon character Poliwhirl manufactured by Nintendo/Game Freak. The toy is made from purple material with a black spiral pattern on a white background on its front. It has two large black eyes that have small white dots in them, two white hands and two small feet. There is a white label attached to the bottom of the toy which has printed trademark and copyright details on one side and washing instructions on the reverse. The number '00421' is also printed on the label. Pokémon is a series of video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo.
Provenance
Manufactured in China for Nintendo/Game Freak in 1998. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay on 24th March 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
Marks and inscriptions
Bottom of toy: White label stitched to side of toy with printed copyright/trademark details on one side and washing instructions on the other. Also the number '00421' is printed on one side.
