Summary
A textile/plush cuddly toy of the Pokémon character Squirtle manufactured by Nintendo/Game Freak. The toy is turquoise in colour with areas of yellow on the front and brown on the rear. The toy has two large black eyes and has its eyebrows, mouth and nose all marked in black. It has two arms and legs, all of which have three claws on their ends and it has a short curly tail. There is a white label attached to the bottom of the toy which has printed trademark and copyright details on one side and washing instructions on the reverse. There is a faded number on one side of the label with is illegible. Pokémon is a series of video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo.
Provenance
Manufactured in China for Nintendo/Game Freak in 1998. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay on 24th March 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
Marks and inscriptions
Bottom of toy: White label stitched to side of toy with printed copyright/trademark details on one side and washing instructions on the other. Also an illegible number printed on one side.
