Summary
A textile/plush cuddly toy of the Pokémon character Pikachu manufactured by Nintendo/Game Freak. The toy is yellow with two large black eyes and a black nose and mouth. There are two red circles on the cheeks and it two horns on either side of the top of its head which have black tips. There are two brown stripes on the back of the toy and it has a yellow and brown tail. There is a white label attached to the bottom of the toy which has printed trademark and copyright details on one side and washing instructions on the reverse. The number '00531' is also printed on the label. Pokémon is a series of video games developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo.
Provenance
Manufactured in China for Nintendo/Game Freak in 1998. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay on 24th March 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
Marks and inscriptions
Side of toy: White label stitched to side of toy with printed copyright/trademark details on one side and washing instructions on the other. Also the number '00531' is printed on one side.
