Summary
A textile/plush cuddly toy based on the Blue Monster character from the 1963 children's picture book 'Where The Wild Things Are' written by Maurice Sendak. The toy is made of predominantly blue plush material, with cream coloured feet and a black and grey beard. There are two white horns on either side of the toys head and it has cream coloured ears. The toy has moveable arms and legs and has four white textile claws at the end of each arm. The back and top of the toys head are covered in grey fabric; its eyes are coloured yellow and black and its nose and teeth are white. There is a white label attached to the toys side with printed details of its copyright and trademark.
Provenance
Originaly manufactured in 1985. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay on the 17th September 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
