Summary
A print on paper, ‘Seyley, The Chimney Sweeper’ by R.S. Kirby. The chimney sweep is in the foreground and is wearing a wide brimmed hat. He has his brushes slung over one shoulder and a sack over the other shoulder. Walking behind the sweep is a small boy who is looking backwards over his shoulder. The boy is carrying a small brush and a cloth. The title of the print is printed at the bottom underneath which is the inscription ‘Pub'd Sept 16 1813 by R.S. Kirby, 11 London House Yard'.

Drawn by R.S. Kirby and originally published on 16th September 1813. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood from Alastair Mitchell on 7th March 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
