Summary
A plastic glow in the dark ‘Glo Skunkbug’ toy manufactured by Hasbro in its original packaging. The toy sits within a cellophane box attached to a card backing. The toy is yellow and purple and is wearing a green a bed hat and comes with an orange textile sleeping back. There is a printed text box at the rear of the cellophane box but this cannot be read without removing the toy from its packaging. The front of the card packaging has 'GLO Skunkbug’ printed at the top in white and green letters and a logo for Hasbro at the bottom right corner. Immediately to the left of the logo is the number/text ‘1974/1922 Asst.1’. On the rear of the card are images of the twelve Glo Friends toys in the series and a cut out collectors card of Glo Skunkbug. In the top left corner on the rear is a collectable token for one ‘Moon Drop point’ and in the top right corner is the number/text in blue ‘1974/1922 Asst.1’. In the bottom right corner is another Hasbro logo.
Provenance
Manufactured in China for Hasbro in 1986. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay on 26th March 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
