Summary
Rectangular shaped National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children collectors badge authorising house to house collections. Made of brown card, the front side of the badge has a logo/emblem of a set of scales below a crown. Around the scales is written ‘THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO CHILDREN’. On the rear there is a space for the collectors signature to be filled in and an explanation of the object of the collection. The badge has two small holes at the top which would have allowed it to be tied/secured to a collectors coat or jacket. The NSPCC is a UK children's charity founded in 1884.
Provenance
Issued by the NSPCC to authorise house to house collections. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay on 27th June 2019 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
