A hardback copy of the book 'Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone’ by J.K. Rowling, published by Bloomsbury in 1997; 223 pages. The books dust jacket has the title of the book and the author’s name at the top above an illustration of Harry Potter in front of the Hogwarts Express train. The rear of the dust jacket has an illustration of Albus Dumbledore, a character featured in the book. There is also text in white letters about the Harry Potter character. The cover illustrations are by Thomas Taylor. The title of the book and the authors name are printed on the spine. The original price of the book (£10.99) is printed on the inside of the dust jacket, together with a summary of the book and comments on it from newspaper/press reviews. Inside the front cover of the book are hand written messages and signatures in ink of actors from the film version of the book including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Robbie Coltrane. Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone was J.K. Rowling’s debut novel and was the first book in the Harry Potter series. It was first published in the UK on 26th June 1997. This copy was previously owned by Verity Collins who was employed as an extra in the film version of the book that was produced in 2000 and released in 2001. The signatures in the front of the book were obtained during her time on the film set.
