Summary
The playing cards used in the game 'Donkey'. The backs of the cards all have a pattern of white daisies on a pale blue background, the fronts all have a green background. One card features an advertisement for other card games made by Tower Press but all of the others have a colour-printed image of an animal along with its name. There are 18 pairs, plus one 'grass snake' and one 'Donkey'. As the aim of the game is to put together pairs, with just the one 'Donkey' card left over, this must mean the other 'grass snake' card is missing.
Provenance
Donated to the National Trust Museum of Childhood by Jane Shuker in 2015. Owned by the donor and her sister Mary in the 1950s or early 1960s.
