Summary
A Raleigh Burner BMX bicycle. The bike has a blue metal frame, yellow wheels with light blue rubber tyres and a blue plastic seat. There is a ‘Burner’ logo sticker on both sides of the down tube and two ‘R’ stickers on the vertical seat tube below the seat. There are faded ‘Raleigh’ stickers on both of the front forks. On the top crossbar there is a yellow fabric covering with ‘Raleigh’ written in black and there are also pieces of yellow fabric around the handlebars with one piece having a black ‘R’ logo. The bike has yellow rubber handle grips with blue dots and a red rear reflector. There is a metal ‘Raleigh’ badge immediately above the front forks and a Raleigh Carbospec sticker at the bottom of the seat tube adjacent to the chain.
Provenance
Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via ebay on 13th November 2017 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
