Summary
A black fabric doll made in the 1920s or 1930s, with dyed wool hair (Persian lamb). She has button eyes and embroidered facial features. She is wearing a kingfisher blue velvet coat with white linen collar. Under this is a dress which has a linen bodice trimmed with lace and pink fabric and a skirt of pink cotton/silk fabric. Her underwear consists of a printed blue cotton/rayon petticoat and drawers, and she has pink fabric (to match her dress) tied round her head as a bandana;. Her boots are made of light brown jersey fabric.
Provenance
One of two dolls given to the NT in 1991 by Miss Ada Winifred Leaver via Mrs Oliver Perks, both of Wrington, Bristol. Offered for transfer to another NT property during Overbeck's Collection Review and transferred to Sudbury Hall in 2018.
