Summary
A yellow oblong cardboard box lid part of a box containing a Pelham Puppet, it has printing on it showing " Pelham PUPPETS MARBOROUGH WILTS - HAND MADE PUPPETS FOR CHILDREN WITH FULLY ILLUSTRATED INSTRUCTIONS". There are illustrations of the different puppet characters and on the ends writing stating "STANDARD PUPPET" and the name of the puppet TYROLEAN BOY in red, which is the puppet inside the box. The lid shows various puppets this one shows a Witch and a Mad Hatter on one side which gives a guide to the year the puppet was made; 1955 to 1961.
Provenance
A gift to the National Trust Museum of Childhood by Miss Verity Holmes in 2017. Belonged to the donor as child probably bought for her as a present when aged 10 or 11.
