Summary
A 1940s walking composition headed doll named Esmeralda, she is dressed in a full length red coat with a hood under which is a yellow and pink dress with red, yellow and green colored rings around the base of the dress. Under the dress she is wearing a white petticoat, white knickers and a white vest. On her feet red shoes and dirty pale pink socks. On her left leg she has a white bandage (possibly hiding a repair at an earlier date). She has long blonde hair dressed with two pink with white spotted plastic bows which form two trusses in her hair. She has blue eyes, eye lids and lashes which open and close.
Provenance
A gift to the National Trust Museum of Childhood by Mrs. Joanne Abbot (nee Armstrong) in 2016, to be used as part of the Handling Collection. The doll was originally owned by her mother in the 1940s.
