Summary
A collection of doll’s house furniture(contents from Betty Cadbury's doll's house number: 665529). It consists of: A chaise longue. It is elaborately shaped with a back made in two parts, both of which are upholstered in the same dark green fabric with a floral pattern as the seat and roll back. The upholstery on the smaller of the two wooden backs is torn and is revealing its stuffing. Both of the backs are very weak. There is green fringing around the lower edge. It has turned wooden front legs, and tapered wooden back legs (both of the latter are very nearly detached). A wooden Dutch or peg wooden doll with a composition head, painted facial features and black painted, moulded hair. It has jointed arms and legs. It is wearing a blue and white check fabric dress with dirty cream lace at the neck, and a cream fabric petticoat. A sofa with gold coloured velvet upholstery and a matching fringe around the bottom edge. It has a shaped wooden back (also upholstered). The front of the arms is carved in bone or ivory. There are two bolster cushions adjacent to the arms. A card/sewing table, presumably part of a set with another sewing table, chest of drawers and a cabinet/desk. This sewing/card table has shaped legs (the rear right-hand foot is broken off and missing). There are turned stretchers between the legs. It has two removable drawers. The top one contains three packs of cards. The bottom drawer is divided into compartments containing the following: a card with a pair of scissors and a knife attached; a card with ribbon attached; a ball of red thread; a ball of white thread; two buttons; a pair of scissors; a metal rod and a cream rod. A very small rectangular mat. The upper surface has been hand-stitched in green, red and black thread in a cross shaped pattern. The back is covered with dirty pink satin or silk. A wooden doorstep or part of a window frame with mitred corners and a rounded profile on one edge. There is a groove below the rounded edge. It was found in the middle storey hall. Seven (detached) doors, each with two glass panels and a wooden panel at the bottom. One of the doors has a piece of glass detached with the wooden frame now in three pieces. A dark wooden leg from a doll's house size piece of furniture, it is flat and has a convex upper profile and a rounded foot. Total number of items is 21.
