Summary
A 'penny toy' sewing machine (circa 1900). The toy is made of painted tinplate and was possibly bought in Nottingham by the donor's husband's faimly. He remembered it as a child always being put on the Christmas tree, which it was until possibly c.2000. The handle turns and moves the mechanism inside to make the 'needle' move up and down.
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mrs Joyce Claridge in March 2012.
