Summary
A dark blue, 'Victoria' style baby carriage, possibly by Marmet, bought second hand in 1943, and used by donor and donor's mother. The carriage was re-painted in the 1970s (1971-1976) to its current dark blue. It is not designed for small infants as the child has to sit up inside the pram. It has a detachable cover, and removable plastic covered cream seat pillow. The carriage has a spring system that supports its main body. There is some paint flaking off the metal, and the spokes in the left rear wheel are starting to uncurl. Associated objects; two blankets under record number 671209.1 and 671209.2.
Provenance
Bought by donor's mother second-hand (most likely from Sutton-Coldfield) in 1943, and donated to the Museum of Childhood by Joy Timbrell in May 2012.
