Summary
The box for a spinning toy. The box is in two parts, the base and a removable lid. It is made of cardboard covered in white paper. The box is in very poor condition with several splits in the folds of the cardboard, tears in the paper and the large areas of discolouration all over the box. The toy is patented by Breveté and comprises four painted metal spinning tops shaped as fruits, with a device to set them spinning. The toy was played with by the donor, her father (born 1905) and her children, and was also possibly played with by the donor's grandmother (born in the 1880's).
Provenance
Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mrs Gillian Evans in December 2010.
