Summary
The jacket of a child-size 'Lifeguard' uniform worn by the donor, born 1943, when aged about five or six. It is possibly home-made, but second-hand when the donor received it. He was living in Harrow, Middlesex at the time. As well as the jacket, the uniform comprises trousers and a plumed helmet. The jacket is made of a course navy blue fabric with sections of a course red fabric sround the cuffs and down the front of the jacket. The cuffs, coller and front of the jacket are decorated with bronze coloured metal braid and it has brass coloured metal buttons on the cuffs and fastening it down the front.
Provenance
Worn by the donor in circa 1948-1949 when aged about 5-6. Donated to the Museum of Childhood by Mr R. Wildsmith in October 2010.
