Summary
A composition doll made by the Alexander Doll Company in New York, USA. The doll is of Marie Dionne, one of the Dionne Quintuplets born in Ontario, Canada in 1934. The doll belonged to the donor's mother, probably given to her by her uncle in the 1930's after he bought it in America. The doll is wearing a matching set of knitted clothes in pale pink comprising a bonnet, dress, under-dress and knickers. She also wears a pale pink knitted vest in a different wool, white socks and red leather shoes. She has a gold coloured pin badge attached to her chest with a round disk attached to the bottom embossed with 'Marie' on on side and 'Madame Alexander' on the other. The doll has brown, curly artificial hair, brown open-close eyes and moving joints at the shoulders and hips.
