Summary
One of a set of three baby congratulations cards (circa 1956). The card is folded card with silver edging, a pink bow, and a printed colour picture of a mother holding a baby wrapped in a blanket surrounded by flowers. Inside is a short poem, and a small coloured image of baby shoes surrounded by flowers. The text on the front of the card says; “Congratulations To Baby and you!” The text inside reads; “A real live baby, so they say Has come to town and plans to stay, Picked out splendid parents, too, Lucky baby! Lucky you! Here’s a wish for everything Love and sunny years can bring, Joy as sweet as baby’s ways, A long, long life of happy days.” The card is signed on the opposite inside leaf; “Congratulations & Best wishes From. Muriel, Doug & Dan”
Provenance
Given to donor's parents on her birth on 14.2.1956, and donated to the National Trust Museum of Childhood by Mrs Sue Fraser in August 2012.
